Creative Direction:
The poster design was built around bubble, bold, expressive typography and a vibrant, illustrative style. The visual tone reflects COMBHO’s essence: fun, flavorful, and unapologetically local.
I took inspiration from illustration driven work done by other great food joints maintaining a visual continuity in linework, character, and colour energy. The poster had to feel loud but friendly confident in tone, yet approachable to all.
Key Design Elements:
1. Bubble Typography
A custom drawn, bubble style type was used to give the poster a fun and exaggerated personality. This typographic choice was key in creating an accessible and informal feel, while still making the message highly visible and memorable.
2. Letter “C” as a Visual Anchor
The letter “C” from “COMBHO” was creatively enlarged and stylized, acting as both a starting point and a symbolic icon for the brand. This helped establish early brand recognition and gave the poster a strong focal point.
3. Colour Palette
The design used a punchy and energetic colour palette, including warm reds, bold yellows, and off-whites. These tones were selected to evoke appetite, warmth, and freshness closely tied to the culinary theme.
4. Composition & Hierarchy
The layout was carefully structured to create impact from a distance while still offering depth and detail up close. Typography took center stage, supported by subtle illustrative touches that brought the composition to life without overwhelming the core message.
